In response to the trend of Taiwanese businesses returning to Taiwan and to promote the accelerated upgrading and transformation of domestic industries to create a new era of economic prosperity, the Global Taiwanese Business Research Center of Chung Yuan Christian University held the “Global Taiwanese Business Smart Transformation Strategy Forum.” The forum invited prominent business leaders to share their strategies and operations for smart transformation. Kao Kung-lien, President of the Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Cultural Exchange Association, was invited to attend and stated that the business environment has faced significant impacts in the past two years, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the US-China trade war, and climate change. Businesses must strive to adapt with new concepts and technologies, hoping to develop a new pattern and a new stage for Taiwan’s economy through intelligent transformation and digital transformation.
Huang Shih-ming, Chairman of KRL battery, one of Taiwan’s top three battery pack manufacturers, stated that becoming a professional battery system supplier that creates win-win situations with customers has allowed Gabriel to maintain an important position in the power industry. Therefore, in addition to product transformation, Gabriel is also actively transforming its marketing, factories, and operations. Huang Shih-ming emphasized, “The most difficult aspect of running a business is talent. Finding the right people is crucial to doing the right things. And operations aren’t achieved through management alone, but through the ‘standardization’ of R&D, design, and production.”
Chun Yuan Christian University Chairman Chang Kuang-cheng stated at the forum that Chung Yuan boasts the most comprehensive smart manufacturing demonstration site among public and private universities nationwide, the “Knowledge and Action Leadership Center.” This center promotes industry-academia innovation through cross-disciplinary technology integration and serves as a talent cultivation base for the industry. Chung Yuan’s core philosophy of “holistic education” is highly recognized and affirmed by its alumni.
Chun Yuan Christian University’s efforts and contributions in the field of smart manufacturing are evident. It has also received approval from the Ministry of Education to establish the first-ever “Smart Computing and Big Data” department, which will officially enroll students in the 2022 academic year.
